The other day I found one of my old journals. It was from my sophomore year in college. In some respects it was incredibly embarrassing to read, but when I was though turning the tattered pages stapled with pictures, post cards, track numbers and notes passed in “Language Truth and Advertising” class I became incredibly glad that I had documented that year. More than the memories, it was cool to see how I’ve grown… how many of the convictions I had then, I have now (in a more developed sense) and how some of them have changed over the years as I’ve been exposed to different things. It also reminded of goals I have not yet achieved… that illusive novel I want to write and exotic places I plan on seeing. Anyway, the whole process made me want to write again. Even though I feel old to be doing it, I imagine at some point I’ll be thankful that I documented my first year as a young lawyer… Plus I find the process to be very therapeutic. This brings me to journal maker Epica. Epica carries hand-made Italian leather journals with a complete line of customization options. Their books are absolutely gorgeous and certainly worthy of your deepest secrets and most profound thoughts. Their $90 journal is one of their top sellers… and though a bit expensive, its certainly cheaper than therapy sessions- and in my opinion more effective.
